My PhotoWeek 2013: Mar 10 - Mar 16, 2013

1) Posing Tips - Michelle Phan   (back to top)

They're actually from Michelle's photographer. One thing I take away from this short video is that this actually builds rapport with the subject, especially a nervous one. If you sense that the subject is uncomfortable, it's good to guide him or her go through the simple exercises. This shows that you care and are really serious about getting the best shot.

2) DIY $5 Fogger - Household Hacker   (back to top)

Having fog or smoke in the background (or foreground) during a shoot adds interest to your images, especially if it's for fashion. A fog machine can set you back $30 and up. Great if you always use it for halloween or if you're getting clients left and right. Me, I'd save that dough towards camera or studio gear. And when I do need to add a special effect, I don't mind going DIY... I might even test it out this halloween.

3) The Human Condition - Joel Grimes   (back to top)

Joel Grimes' guest blogpost on Scott Kelby's site hits it home for me... the fear of rejection and its paralyzing effect on just about anything  we hope to achieve.

If there is one quote I would pull out of this article, it's this one:
"Create anything and you will find an audience that loves it and an audience that hates it."
So note to self... My own worst enemy is myself and to overcome it I have to accept that I can't please everyone, I have to embrace rejection, learn from my mistakes, and just keep moving forward.

4) Get Organized and Build A Better Portfolio - Jasmine DeFoore   (back to top)
