As I delve deeper into photography as an art, I find myself studying more about color hoping to use them intentionally as part of composition. I came across a wonderful book, Color Workbook by Becky Koenig.
One thing I learned today from reading the book is the distinction between hue and color. All this time, I've been using the terms interchangeably but, I found out, there is actually a difference.
Hue "is either a specific wavelength from the spectrum or a color, in its pure state, from the color circle."
Color "means a color derived from any hue." "Unlike a hue, a color is not necessarily chromatically pure."
Example: Violet is a hue, Light Violet is a color.
As the saying goes... you learn something new everyday.
